Fly High to the Sky!

My tongue retard slightly while I was having lunch a couple of days ago at school and I bit my tongue! A quarter of my tongue was caught up by my unfeeling rows of teeth. And it still hurts now. I hope it don't turn into ulcer, which it apparently did. And arye horpe arye owrn hare hu peak yees way. *haha*

That certainly relates to many "bites" I had. But it's not always my teeth that does the harm. Sometimes if it chomp down something that's tougher, the pain and numb that travel down to the root of the tooth deep down beneath my gum can be near-unbearable! So what could be tougher than my teeth? Obviously, there's none other than a metal spoon. Yeah, there're times when a brain signal anormaly can disrupt my hand-jaw synchronisation, as a result my jaw close before I remove the spoon.

Call me a loser, I know you want to. Haha.

So today's weather was nice, just a 'lil tad hot. I tried taking photos when the MRT got out of the tunnel near Kallang, but it failed miserably. It was more thrilling than I expect it would be, 'cause you only got one shot and the train is moving real fast. *haha* Shall try again next time.

So I did mention weather's good, great. But did I mention I get fascinated when I see fluffy clouds? When there's the ultimate cloud formation that I can't miss, gotta capture them down... quick! High up in the sky, wind speed are much higher than at sea level, so clouds shapeshift fast. Obviously for writing so much, I had miss it somewhat by fiddling with the camera's settings. But there're jets flying all around and I took them instead!

I am the wind...
I am the wind...

But I still tempted to put up a photo taken 3 months ago...

Clouds for the Beautiful

'O' levels are in mid-way and 'A' levels just started. Last semester, I was sitting near FC5 sending e-mail for my psychology class' role-play project. Then some guy popped up in front of my and gave me a nicely folded message and a lollipop! Scare me sia! And I thought he was... trying to sell me something. But he explain it was free and an encouragement since exams are around the corner. Then he continued to give to the others.

I must be looking so stressed that time! Haha. Anyway, I still kept the message so I can post here to pass on the encouragement. But lollipop each sold separately!

Hihi. Stress out? Well, the people around you also feel the same as you. Haha. Try smiling, it helps a lot. It can also affect the people around you. =)

Hope the JC peeps can do well and may their results fly high like the jets in the sky!

Even if the wind and the rain turn the city upside-down...

Yet Another Semester

This time's for real, another semester had started!

There are two business modules, five IT modules and one general elective. Sometimes the way to escape the situation of still studying 8 subjects at one go is to head towards JC. Haha. The two business module are taught by the same lecturer and he's business-educated. Lecturers with different specialisation talk differently. Obviously, he tends to see things in the business perspective and that's is definitely interesting. Haha, people call this type of behaviour 职业病. I'm definitely suffering from such illnesses too.

It's also worth remarking that I can't spell out his name 'cause he threatened to sue people who talk bad about him online if he ever google out his name. Sure I didn't talk anything bad yet, but I'm a not risk-taker so I'd like insured he can't use Google on me. Yeah, Google does keyword search and not a context search! So people who knows what I'm talking about, knows!

Sad thing, the first-and-only honeymoon week had ended. I'm sure I will get more emo one so probably I will update less here. But nonetheless, it's time to get working. *with much reluctance*

Last week I went to Microsoft Auditorium for their seminar and took a picture outside the window.

View of Marina Bay from Microsoft Auditorium

Wow, it's sure a tall building and I'm only standing at two-thirds of the building! Imagine jumping down from the top... Imagine the view from the top... can't, not from the picture at least. I was desperate enough to borrow a handphone to get the picture, but it ain't fantastic as what I saw there. It's all down to the reason that the handphone doesn't have lens that's as wide as my eyes'! So probably you don't have the rush of adrenaline when you see this picture, but still you got your imagination. =)

It's easy to realise despair in happiness.
But it's tough to find hope in sadness.

Oh well, 'NUFFsaid.

Happy Birthday to You!

The thought of the start of the next semester just shun everything I could write. The stressful times are back again! *sian* Perhaps I would turn this into a birthday post instead.

So here's to the one who became part of my life: You were the one whom I turn to if I need your guidance. You could always give me the answer I was looking for and sometimes I even wonder if I could even live well without you. Well, you're part of my life already I guess. Your involvement in Blogger had spurred me to blog ever more and maybe even this post. And thanks for celebrating my birthday with your jokes for the past years!

Happy 10th Birthday, Google!

Actually it was a very belated one as Google was borned 7 September 1998. In celebration, Google actually brought back their earliest search index. Search for 'Google 2001' and perform searches like your favourite singer's new album and you won't find anything! Haha. Oh, and it's only available until this month only.

You can also check out the April Fool's jokes Google played too. There's Google Romance, Google Gulp, Google Toliet Internet Service Provider and more! It's funny to read what they wrote there, especially their claims on how it works. Haha, I wonder what were the employees thinkin'!? But it certainly had became the company's culture.

I was wondering people who are born with the star sign Libra, should I call them... Librarians? Haha! Okay since this a birthday post, I should wish the librarians or the 'Libra-people' a happy birthday, smiles! =)

Saying Something Else

I was trying to blog something but it's really hard to put it in words so I put it away into Davy Jones' Locker. In the end, my end product is this line of text. Haha.

Oh well, then there's nothing to say here already. But I gotta squeeze something here to show my effort to write a proper entry!

Hmm, oh I got one!

There was a blog that was very funny. Well, funny in terms of that I actually chuckled at it. So that blog posts a comical drawing, drawn by the author, about a self-created superhero every entry. The funny point about it is that the new superhero will vanquish the previous superhero because the "stronger" one would have a trait or ability that the "weaker" one cannot tahan! Haha.

Here's three of them in sequence:

Mr. Ben Soilerocks-Hyde - Hours and hours of dry conversation.

was vanquished by...

Hyuky Laffenjoke - Can find hilarity in any story!

and was vanquished by...

The Ring Leader - So underpays Clowns that they become incapable of joy.

I purposely find the one that have something to do with clowns. Haha. So the blog's called The Superest. Wonder who defeated The Ring Leader?

Hmm, so I predicted you're probably still listening to track one of my playlist. That is if you did switch your speakers, never stop or pause MediaStation, read my post in my expected reading speed, and you haven't doze off. Haha.

For the next song, I practically loved Jay Chou's falsetto in 《乔克叔叔》, 'cause I can sing that part. HAHA! Although final song title could very well be tentative and a mystery, it's better to have a decent related name than me calling it 《歌曲编号 三七二十一》.

Haha. Okay, the next thing I'm saying isn't going to be very related because of sudden last-minute change in my playlist to feature Lin Jun Jie's new song and I liked 'Uncle Joker' better so gotta take the other one out. However, I did wrote quite an amount about it and I don't wanna just 'backspace' it. So check out that song somewhere else like the infamous imeem.

Alright, the next song 《魔术先生》 starts with a really lame "magic trick". You can listen and rate its lame index but that's not the thing I wanna do now! Haha. My sister was listening to this song (including the joke together) many times and she spotted a big mistake in the joke!

Jay Chou was playing piano and G-Power offered to teach him a magic trick. He accepted it but continued to play the piano. But G-Power wants him to stop playing the piano and pay attention and he goes on to describe the 'elephant' trick and Jay followed along. Later G-Power requested some music and Jay start to play his piano again. Then G-Power finished his trick and he said Jay now looks like an elephant!

Hah-

So here's the million-dollar question: If Jay continued to play the piano, how is he going to hold his nose with his left hand, place his right hand through his left hand and get tricked?

My initial reaction was a ya-hor expression. Could that be a potentially overlooked, erm... overlistened logical mistake? I actually think it is, or is there some magic going on? Haha.

Home's Sweeter

A few days ago, my distant cousin from Taiwan sent me a song. He wanted me to listen to it and give him comments whether it's up to standard to release as his new single in his new album. Well after listening, I find it's all good and his style, so I said yes.

And he did!

Okay, the above was purely fictional and any similarity in terms of real life scenario or anyone is purely coincidental.

Yet another exclusive, Jay Chou's new single is featured right here on `starzdropS! Hoho~ I could guess when the album's out, fans would be flooding their blogs with his music. I don't really like crowds so I could only do it when no one would! Haha.

I don't think there's any other place to listen to such undisturbed piece of 稻香, other than like... here? In another words, it's definitely better than those imeem uploads!

You can add in YouTube too.

And tudou.

And the list goes on...

EDIT: Haha. Not actually, I ran another search on imeem and more copies like mine appeared already. Looks like I'm still slower and there's still smart peeps in the world after all. *sobs*

EVEN MORE EDITS: Crap! The album was released on internet already! For all the hard work I've put in to make this hybrid mix! I edited one okay! *agitates* Haha. No problem actually, let's have it before majority does then.

Alright, perhaps here is where fans stop reading. Oh well, but I'll still continue.

Oh, F1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix is gonna start this weekend! But I don't get hyped up after watching the practice session. And I told my sister how people actually could spend a few hundred bucks just to witness the Doppler shift in action. Haha! They say great minds think alike, even MM Lee find little excitement in it.

An excerpt from 14 August 2008 TODAY papers:

“I find very little excitement in it. They wheel around and around, and it’s over. And there’s an accident – so what? But I’m told there is tremendous excitement in the way you get the cars, the way you change wheels, the way you drive, and so on,” he said, drawing chuckles from the audience.

Maybe I'm watching on television, that's why. My father says the sound made by the cars are really loud there. But home sweet home, just get some high-end sound system and speakers set up and you're in the race yourself! I hope it's more exciting during the Sunday race. Well, in terms of the crashes. That's devious I know, but that's what really make the news footage. =X

Anyway just a few weeks ago, I was deeply troubled over what I wrote and who read them. Perhaps I understand some people who switched over to LJ or just want to have a secret blog. I heard LiveJournal have this function to lock posts so only restricted people have access.

Sounds really cool but I won't switch over to it. I'm still a Google supporter after all! That's not because Google giving out 12 million dollars for world-changing ideas, but I haven't seen people using LJ to have more customisable layouts like Blogger.

Digression aside and main point, I wanted to start another blog. A secret one. I actually even came up with a "codename" for it, `starzdropShadow. And I even go and search up for a word that is good to describe it.

Oh, silly me. If anyone is thinking critically now, they might wonder that if that guy is having a secret or very personal blog, why is he announcing it? I would say it's not going to be a train-up session for your Google search skills, because there is no such thing that exists. It's only a concept. Not to mention that eminent Albert Einstein always believed in unification, so I shouldn't be having anything more than one.

Because what can be seen, no one actually sees it.

Keeping Track of My Words

Do you ever had a feeling that you told someone something, but you aren't sure if you actually said it?

Sounds complicated. But if I were to make it sound simpler, my flawed grammar would give away. But here goes again: There's something and you told many people about it and you lost track of whom you said to?

Because I'm trying to do something like this now and I'm very sure it was lying around somewhere in the archives. But I just want to rephrase it again! Haha. Even Hollywood producers remake old movies, so I should rephrase my posts too.

It had always been like that! When I'm having school, there's almost an Everest to talk about. But things are so fast-paced that I can't find my composure to do such literature! Now it's holiday-time and there's not much to write. Actually, there's a couple and a couple AND a couple of things to say. Erm, okay there's like six of them? But I think I need the sparks to get them lighted again.

Now here's something that I concocted last year and haven't told many people about it and I still can keep good track of it. 2 person to be exact. One is my sister, who got a great laugh at it. Another one eh, not sure the exact name, but she doesn't have much reaction to it. Oh well! Haha. =/

There's 3 things that a person just shouldn't be asking:

不能问男人的薪水。
不能问学生的成绩。

This is simply the taboos of modern society! And that's 'NUFFsaid!

Defining a New Version

It's been a while.
I know I shouldn't kept you waiting.
But I'm here now...

To start with, I'm not really into electropop. But starting `starzdropS v7.2 with those words are just simply to good to resist! Haha. Anyway, it's some time since MediaStation got pumpin' some beats!

In Version 7.2, there are "seven-ral" minor changes that only seventh sense can tell. But the two notable changes can be seen and heard. Yet it's not really that obvious.

The one that could be seen isn't shown... yet.

The one that could be heard isn't audible... to me at least.

MediaStation just got the power to display non-English characters! Nah, it's small issue actually but that's the very reason why there's no Mandarin songs all these while! Hanyu Pinyin not very nice you know!?

And MediaStation ventures into the realm of High-Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding! It's actually just another name for MP4 with SBR. But I reckon I'm getting bad on hearing, I could hardly spot differences.

Is there a magical way to improve my English?

The Blitz of Instant Messaging

"Instant messaging are meant to be brief and simple. Else, I would have wrote an e-mail instead."

I wonder who said that quote, though it's not the exact words. I would certainly appreciate if anyone would find out for me. Should be quite a handsome and intellectual person I believe. Although I reckon that person who said that must be trying to be funny at the time, but it does make some sense.

Indeed, SMS messages are visioned to be short and straightforward. That's why there's a limit on the number of characters in a message. Actually I think it was technical constraint or just plain wierd standards and specifications. If you ever had to send an SMS but it exceeds the character limit and span over two or even more SMS, you could have called instead.

Perhaps, I can guess why it's easier to SMS although pressing the keypad isn't a fun thing to do, for me at least. SMS is a much passive way to communicate and definitely less demanding in terms of attention. On the other hand, calling someone requires the party's immediate attention and you could almost certainly get the reply fast. So better save those for emergency instead!

Not just SMSes, tagboard messages are supposed to be short and sweet too. If you exceed 15 words, you're probably being too long-winded already. Imagine a message that goes, "hey.. so long nv update alrd, den finally updated u post everything together! split them up lah den easier to read mah! haha.."

Okay, that was sort of exaggerated. Haha.

Anyway, computers and electronic devices can only do so much, and there's no chance your body language is going to send through with those simple messages. The most primitive way of communication is lost, and the only thing you could count on is the words.

Fortunately, words do have something else and that's the tone! If you make a message too short, it isn't sweet anymore. It lacks the emotions and, in my opinion, turn a message or reply seemed cold. The sender might be imagined to be impatient and irritated. Hmm, could it be just me? That I guess, could potentially create misunderstanding.

Maybe, that's why I find conversing on Messenger seemed a chore sometimes?

But emoticons could help. A lot! It need not be pictorial, a simple =) suffice in defining the message's intent. However, don't over-use the pictorial form of it 'cause it could really turn out to be an eye-sore sometimes.

What a boring thing I'm talking about, even I yawned. >.< Why did I start this in the first place arh? Beats me.

Perhaps I'm just being random I guess. Haha.

A Teacher's Day Indeed

In case I got too engrossed in my documentaries and can't return next month in time, here's a happy teacher's day to, well of course, teachers!

Not true that it's only for teachers, when they benefit, students do too! Here's some digression. When teachers get promotion, they get happy and they would scold less teach more! When teachers decides to take a breather and postpone exams for even just a week, we got more time to study! Haha. The latter looks improbable, but principals are welcomed to take the suggestion.

Today happened to be the exam day for the notorious and much mentioned Design for User Interface module. And I officially studied the day before at 10:30 pm. It's risky business, but that certainly made it a lot exciting. It's pretty unwise and only done by professional, so do not try this at home.

I returned to MJR to see how the students there have doodled the walls along the performing arts centre. Happened that they did slightly more then just doodling, I could say it's a painting from my tiny precision-favoured brain. I could guess the school's "evil" plan to let the student draw all they want here, so the new campus would be spared. That's my opinion.

MJR is catching the technology train. There were like 10 teacher awards for student to vote online. Saw them some day ago, but can't remember. But I'm sure I'm not going to check it up again, Moodle's a nightmare! For all I know, Mr Gui received some awards too, congrats!

I was pretty surprised Mr Gui would talked about IT stuffs with me. Then he went on talking about wireless energy transfer. Last time I thought that wacky idea was just some of my nonsensical brain wave spikes. Didn't know it really was possible! Haha. But I kinda got brain-stuck when talking to teachers, so I could only manage some nods and smiles. Should have expressed more yeah? Not to mention those were my area of "expertise".

But seemingly no one came back to MJR. I couldn't even find anyone I don't like. Quite appalling actually. Only Yu Ker and Sebastian came back. I actually made teacher's day cards for them too! But with slightly different message from the teachers one. Of course, Happy Teacher's Day! =) was changed to enjoy your holidays! =). Made 14 cards only gave out 7. Both of them are the representatives for Poly and JC peeps.

Haha.

That's finding laughter in disappointment. Sigh.

MJR is moving to the new campus in a couple of months' time. But I don't think many would go there next August end. My speculation does have some substantiation. Peeps in JC2 next year would serve NS or go university. And another academic year for university had just started. New semester, freshman and skipping lectures don't go together. Probably, poly peeps wouldn't come too then.

Cards for Teacher's Day 08
The remaining cards for the teachers and ex-students!

There are 3 more actually, but aiya, throw away already. The card's quite nice yet quite plain. No wonder the best excuse to boost a self-made card's value is: It's more sincere. The 3 paper clips forms my abstract flower! Yeah, IT guy cannot do origami but at least can take some decent photos.

Four Years of Peculiarity

Here goes yet another year. It's nearly 4 years since you had started producing peculiar posts that no one seemed to understand. Perhaps it was all intentional, but I can't be sure either.

The major upheaval that happened this year is probably the most unforgettable. I wonder if anyone would had remembered how I cried and begged the Blogger team to restore you when I accidentally deleted you. It quite funny to see what I wrote to them, from my perspective at least. Hmm, I haven't time to bring you back to one piece yet. Bringing back to one piece? Sounds like Humpty Dumpty! Haha.

I shall dedicate this entry to you. So I should say the magic phrase: Dedication intended. Haha.

Happy "birthday" my `starzdropS!

Indentating with Two Fingers & Precious Memory

There was an entry I wrote a few months ago, should be in June, it was in 'draft' state and didn't got to be posted. The first paragraph was talking about how I got tremendous inspiration to blog about something during examination period. Let me think, that time I was studying for NMA, Network Management and Administration.

This time, more things struck me while I was revising on DSAL. Pronounced as dee-sell, it's an artistic acronym that stands for Data Structures and Algorithm. Okay, goes the big words, it's actually a programming module. I was doing the past year papers, and of course, the answers the paper wants are mostly codes. Don't know if you've seen how codes look like when seen from a far, so gotta show a snapshot.

The picture is blur because I need to simulate when you look a far, and most people in Singapore is myopic so that's a realistic model. ;)

Identation of codes

So you see codes have quite some identations, that's the thing I want to show. It's for easy reading actually, so for my answer, I gotta write something like that. The thing is, it reminded me of the primary school days. I remember teachers always call the class, "Place two fingers along the margin when starting a new paragraph!"

Now I don't indent paragraph that often. Hmm, on second thought, why is there a need to indent a paragraph? You know this is the fifth paragraph of this entry right? It's only useful when differentiating text written on alternate line I think? What's your view?

Then I tried to do identation of my codes using my two fingers. My two fat fingers. Haha. I think the width of my two fingers now is 33% wider than 10 years ago.

Amazing! But true.

Maybe I should get it that draft post completed, it's quite a fun post when I wrote it. The word 'fun' could have a different meaning to different people. I wonder?

I've been watching Couple or Trouble which is showing on Channel U. Suffering from amnesia seems like a good thing. You can forget about unhappy things and sort of start a new life. Dare to try the things you wouldn't do now. But you need a good person by your side to guide you of course. Haha.

There was a documentary, where there was this part they interview people on the streets. If there's a new pill that you can take and erase your memory, would you take it? Hypothetical question. Haha. I happen to know someone who often ask me hypothetical questions. Haha. Maybe I should ask her someday.

Now I'm sitting on the fence, deciding whether to lose my memory or to lose my mind.

Treasure Now. Time Knows No Patience

Heard this on a mandarin radio station, and I find it pretty meaningful. The female DJ said a person who dwells and wants to go back to the past probably isn't living a pleasant life. Haha. But I think a more fitting one would be, a person who dwells and wants to go back to the past probably isn't feeling pleasant at that particular instance.

15 August 2008 was a clear day. The full moon shone brightly. And it was a special day, not because something good happened. On this day, 3 things get synchronised. First, it's the fifth day of the week or Friday if you'll call it. Second, it's fifteen on the lunar calendar or it's full moon to be simpler. Third, and the most uncommon of the three, would be it's fifteen both on Gregorian calendar (the one we're using right now) and on the lunar calendar. If I'm not rushing for assignments and exams at the same time, I'd have lay down on lush grass and gaze the moon till dawn. Erm, the poetic way often doesn't really happen in reality. Haha.

Will the sky be the same on 15 July 2011? Sometimes when you missed the chance, it's a few years later. So gotta live in the present, if not the next best bet is to pray for the future. Or maybe, reminisce the past before your memory fades.

Olympics Ain't Just Sports

Alright, previous post was all about chicken and eggs. Now, where's the bacon!?

Oops, got too carried away. Heh.

Few months ago, I was getting bored and I ran a search about Elvis Presley. I was wondering why he's so famous. After reading through Wikipedia, I still don't quite get it. Anyway, the only thing I still remember is he died quite young on 16 August. His death anniversary is nearing, so I guess I'd feature his songs in MediaStation. That's the purpose of this paragraph actually. Haha.

Academic Year 08/09 Semester 1 inofficially ended yesterday (in relative to the post date). But my assignments are still hanging on to me. The final two are all about Flash, however there's nothing flashy about them, they are as dull as ever!

Anyway, Olympics 2008 had just started! The opening ceremony was pretty grand. But I never watched it fully, gotta do what I was complaining in my previous paragraph! =/

The most boring part was when players have to carry their country flags and wave and wave. Yet it wasn't all that boring. Looking at all the different countries, there are quite some country I never heard of! Even if I did, I couldn't be sure where they are on the map. Maybe I could make a guess for their continent. But the thing I'm sure is, I'm not the only one in the world.

Here I am in Singapore holding a phone in my hand and asking, "Got a country call Moldova one arh?"

Who knows that the people on the other side of the globe could be wondering, "Where's Singapore?"

Haha.

It's quite interesting to see some of the games. It's not just about winning the medals but also fulfiling self-expectations. It can be a heart-wrenching moment to see some players not able to do their routine as planned. I mean those individual/solo events.

Let's put the football match between Singapore and Brazil behind, and hope Singapore can do us proud this time!

Chicken & Eggs

My mum was saying that eggs got expensive recently. I'm not sure about the market price right now but it striked me this question: Which is cheaper? A hen producing 100 eggs or buying 100 eggs from the supermarket?

Well, I don't expect an answer actually, because there were quite many unknowns like how many eggs can a hen lay in its lifetime? How much does a hen that's still alive and kicking cost? Come to all these questions, it doesn't seem like chicken feed anymore.

But my answer is buying 100 eggs from supermarket. Why? All eggs are sterillised before they leave the farm. So it's safer and cheaper to get from the supermarket, medical fees in Singapore ain't cheap 'cha know? But it's quite an interesting question to think about it, if you're like me~

Okay, here's the ancient question that scholars and wise men had always wanted to answer: We got a hen from the egg or an egg from the hen?

From the scientific point of view, it would a hen from an egg. From the Christian point of view, it would be an egg from the hen. At least that's what I think. I don't really want to this post to be all about chicken and egg, so go figure why I feel that way. Actually, I really hope someone could figure it out. =)

On second thought, this post really is about chicken and egg in the end. Oh well!

Living the Neutral Life?

A few weeks after posted the entry about how boring I am, I started to have a second thought about being neutral.

Lastly, staying the same is good don't you find? Don't wish for anything and don't expect anything. 'Cause it might turn up to be disappointing. The best you have right now... is now. Never say this is the best moment in my life. There are better to come, right? Never say this is the worst day ever. There could be worse. So why set a limit on what's good and bad? Stay neutral. Stay at pH 7! *haha* So let fate flows~

One of the worst schooling years I've experience was during primary school years. I never dared to be high in spirits. Anytime, something would just go wrong.

The best representative scenario would be forgetting to do homework and ultimately keeping quiet to avoid scolding from teachers. Actually, it was all to do with my memory and attentiveness during my younger days. But the main thing that bothered me was the sharp drop of mood I had to experience. That potentially wrecked my day. As more of such incident happen, the more I became cautious. The more I became guarded, the more neutral I turned into.

That's background information, but the thing is I asked myself the question.

What's life all about?

Life should be happy, fun and vibrant! Like those scenes you always see in condominium advertisement where everyone have a smile on faces. I don't know, but I think I'm influenced by those corporate messages.

Okay, purging those propagandised messages off my mind, my definition is left with hope, anticipation, expectations and seeing them getting fulfilled. Hope is a powerful thing, especially when it's got to do with survival. You could be lost deep inside the jungle, but having the hope that you can get out or rescued by someone, you'll probably last longer there. But there can be none of the above by being neutral, 'cause it's simply going with the flow.

Imagine a neutral person got taken out of a situation, what changed? Nothing, because if you would see it my way (sort of mathematical manner), x+0 still equates to x. Yup, pretty hard to understand my point of view. I was trying to say that a neutral person wouldn't make a difference at all, and effectively isn't involved in the situation.

Sometimes I feel that by being too neutral, I've be well dead. There's no life in being neutral if I think carefully. So after much refinement, life is about not staying neutral and about taking sides.

Perhaps, in the end it still lies in personal preference. Sometimes the fence looks so comfy to sit on. Oh well, it's another neutral-stance post with no answers. Just like writing an argumentative essay, there's something you want to say, but in the end you balance it off with a "yeah... the other story is also quite true..." paragraph.

Yeah... neutral people does make some difference. They listen to what you wanna say and reply you a neutral answer, it's like x*0 gives you 0. Quite true, quite true... Haha.

Life inside the music box ain't easy... and everyone inside the mechanism is yearning to get out... and 'NUFFsaid.

Taking a Breather to Update

Finally, part one of Design for User Interface's assignment 2 was completed and done with. Slightly boosted my mood a 'lil. But I really hate to emphasised it's part one that was completed. Sigh. Still have 8 assignments left.

This weekend would be just a short breather for me. There are more things for me to finish. I took the time to watch a documentary. It's about recurrent miscarriages. Quite sad thing to see couples trying so hard for a child and everytime they thought they got one, a few weeks later they lost. Life can be so fragile at times. But it concluded with a couple finally having a baby girl. That was such a heart-warming scene! Aww~ Mothers are so noble, but fathers are still important for their support too!

Not to forget I got the chance to watch The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian for free! Hoho~

My free tickets to watch Prince Caspian

There are two tickets! So who did I date? Hmm, it's quite a question to answer. A seemingly exciting question have a boring answer. It was my mother's birthday and so she wanted to tag along with me! Haha.

I actually flipped through the book and found that the sequence of the story in the book and the film was somewhat different. I had really a hard time finding the part where in the movie, they raid the castle. In the end, I think I found it, but it was only nearly a page long only! Haha. It's the same for the final battle, slightly more than a page. Good thing the screenwriter never followed the book too closely, or it would have less action in it and wouldn't turn out as impressive.

I'm so looking forward for the next installment. I still can remember the excitement of following through The Voyage of the Dawn Threader when I was in Secondary 1 during the Reading period. I think that was the most interesting part, filled with adventure. I can't recollect much, but I do recall vividly the part where Eustace turned into a dragon because of his mischief. Haha. Probably no one knows what I'm babbling about.

The Chronicles of Narnia was one of the few books I read. The only part that I haven't read was The Silver Chair. Although I bought the book like a few years back, I never got the time to start and finish it. Haha.

And yeah, this year's NDP would be pretty fantastic I guess. Just take a look at the heart shape in the sky. Oh, I heart Singapore! Pictures taken in case dear ambiguous can hear but can't see them! Haha.

What a roller coaster ride!
What a roller coaster ride!

Diving down...
Diving down...

I Heart Singapore!
HEART-ing Singapore!

I can certainly imagine the g-force on the pilot. I shall salute to them! Haha.

Blogging Beyond Your Time

Blogger recently introduced a new feature that allows bloggers to schedule their post. Basically, you set the post date or time somewhere in the future, in advance of current time. The Blogger system will then automatically schedule your post. When the designated post time is reached, your entry will appear on your blog!

Scheduled.

I was supposedly to be studying for tests, but my mind went wild. What if you wrote all your entry weekly as normal. But one difference, you scheduled to post them some eighty years later, when you're no longer in this world. Week by week, your chronicles will get published online. If the blog could gather enough attention from the blog readers, it could even make news. That is provided what you written is inspirational and read-worthy.

Maybe it could also be a place where you can say something like those you'll regret if you didn't, something that you would want to say to someone but never dared or have a chance to. Something like saying how much you loved your parents or cherished the person you fancy.

Had anyone heard of the book Tuesday with Morrie? I mostly write on Friday, perhaps I could name mine, Friday with Wee Loon. *haha*

Just a thought I pondered on. But would you blog beyond your time? *haha* Sounds a 'lil "Ghost Whisperer".

P.S. This entry was written on Sunday, 22 June 2008, but I expected I've got Interactive Authoring tutorial late at night on Friday till 9 pm and maybe even longer. So I've made this entry to scheduled to post at 10 pm. That's a nifty Blogger feature don't 'cha think? =)

You'll Blackout Finding the Exact Value of Random

The only time of the year when JC and Polytechnic life are closest in synchronisation and have the most resemblence would be during this time - June. Reasonably long holidays and tests right after that, it's really the closest it can get. Talking about tests, I gotta start on that soon!

How about December? I would say that ranked in second. Fairly long holidays, yes. Right after the holidays? No. For the JC1, it's a new academic year and there's new ropes to grab. For the JC2, probably working while waiting for results. For polytechnic students, the academic year hasn't exactly ended there's leftover assignments which is kinda turning sour from the previous year.

Looks like I'm writing pretty random stuff. Recently, cortisol concentration in my saliva seems to be increasing. Reacting that with assignments that stepped over the line of holiday, it's potentially unstable and radioactive. But staying at home all day seems to help. *haha* Home is like a secret laboratory where I can stir up some soothing concoctions.

Okay, here's something really random, but it got some link though. Since I've been talking about home, it just struck me that my house blacked-out yesterday. What an experience! You know, the most probable time to blackout is always at night. It's like... duh! *haha* Of course, or it wouldn't call a blackout!

I was doing my assignment when an angelic transition of light was cast upon me. The light changes from warm orange to cool bluish white. In plain terms, the orange bulb was fading out while the other 2 bluish white ones still shines. I looked up and witness the last few glory seconds of the bulb. I was stunned by how beautiful it faded out, it's like those plasma tubes or something. Then, I was part exclaiming and announcing, "Bo liao, bo liao!" When the transitions reached the end, there was a tock and then silence. My father was pretty surprised and went, "Oie, 谁弄的!?" *haha* I hate to say that, but the bulb did.

Then it's the technical part on replacing the bulb and resetting the power board. But did anyone still remember the assignment I was working on and an angelic transition of light was cast upon me and the light changes from, erm... yeah you know. Gotta redo parts of it! #>.<#

As an ending note which is also random, 瓦解 is such a nice song! I really hope I don't over-listen it too much~

Let My Vacation Be Long-Lived!

Cheers to school vacation!

Say boo~ to assignments!

But the bad thing is, this time the vacation and assignments aren't mutually exclusive. Got 3 assignments to finish during this 3-week holiday. Most probably, school will reopen after I got those 3 done up. *sigh*

Can't think of anything to ramble about, my mind's in a blank right now. *haha* But I gotta write at least some crap now 'cause last week I didn't update.

Let me think harder...

Nah, there's something but there's no more "feel" to write about it already. *haha* But last time I did gather materials for what I'm gonna write and it's a comic drawing.

I spent a fortune for a 60-inch plasma TV and now you'd rather watch programs on a 2-inch iPod screen?!

I found it quite true for some people. Somewhat like the online craze going on for YouTube. A visually precised person like me have less interest in watching shows on a small monitor screen. But technology advancement had blurred the line between monitors, notebook displays and televisions. Now the small had got big, and the big just got bigger!

Not to mention the awkward compression internet videos have. It's unbearable sometimes. However, some are efficiently encoded, balancing size and quality. That's more like it!

I think I got my "feel" back. *haha* Okay, keeping it short, it really depends on the user. Although I enjoy the ease and the up-to-the-minute updates of internet clips and shows, my allegiance still lies in the pristine clarity that high-definition and Blu-ray discs can offer. As what I always say to my sister... HD, 好啊!

What the Future Holds?

The Calendars and Astronomy lecturer was crappy as usual, but he said something really meaningful last lesson. He was talking about how the the Chinese calendar was used for geomancy and fortune-telling.

People always wished they know the future. Don't you yearn for that too? He commented there's only one reason why people wanted to know the future. It's not because you just simply want to be informed what's going to happen next, but be able to change the outcome if it's ominous. Sometimes it's just better to be ignorant. If you know the future and can't do anything to change it for the better, would you still want to know it?

Sounds a little science-fiction now. But for me, at that particular instance when he mentioned it, I said to myself that I don't mind seeing what's beyond. Maybe I can appreciate what's around me more.

Anyway, I've a pile of skyscraper-high assignments. Can't seem to finish them any time soon. It's work and work! Work and work!! There's one quote that goes somewhat like that:

"Solving a problem only leads to a more difficult problem."

To get around this, it sounds so simple. Don't solve the problem! But by not solving a problem, more problems will come. That leave you with one instinctive choice and that's to solve it. Eventually, we have more responsibility and tougher decision to make. It's like things keep piling up. You can don't clear it now, but when you want to, there's so much more to.

Breath in and smile! The next minute, breath in and sigh...

My Enchanting Voice

Ho, it's Labour Day! But it's still another day for assignments for me. There's 5 assignments, and all nearly due like... mid-May? I hope this is a dream. However, it's not. =(

Doh re mi fa so la ti doh!~ Ever wonder how high and low you can reach? Of course you know yourself best! But what's the exact range? Don't know about you, but I do know my estimated range. Hohoho~

After somewhat screeching at the top of my voice, the type choir members would say there's "no support", I got my vague measurements. It's approximately 2,300 Hz! Ooo... sounds pretty high yeah? Nah!! My sister can hit 2,500 Hz! *orz* But compared to the sopranos who can sing Der Hölle Rache, it's "small house meets big house". *haha*

So how low can I go? Not impressive. I was thinking I could fall on the double-digits, but such a slim person like me really don't have the capacity for that. Hence my lowest is 100 Hz! But I feel that isn't right 'cause I don't have the bassy effect, but the I can't find any tone that matches as close as 100 Hz.

Walt Disney Pictures presents Enchanted
Therefore I can pretty much conclude that my vocal ranges from 100 Hz to 2,300 Hz! Woots! But that's not scientifically measured but it's very close already. And it's just for fun and awareness! (:

Just watched Enchanted and it's a nice movie! Hohoho~ Gotta hand it to the screenwriter to come out with a story that combines fairytales and reality. Some scenes are real hilarious and some are adapted from those famous Disney classics like Snow White and Cinderella. A sweet film indeed with all the happily-ever-afters! Catch it on DVD or Blu-ray if you haven't watch it before! I think there wouldn't be disappointment, at least for me.

Ever, ever after...

What an Accident!

Can't stand it! The very same feeling that freaks me out last year is back again. This blog is in a state of crap. I definitely think it requires a major overhaul again. But time is short. There shall only be one more chance, an ultimatum. It's a hit or miss. Miss it and I will be certain to close it down, pack my stuff and keep a traditional diary instead. Anyway including this, there's only 3 posts left.

Or is it?

On 7 April 2008, the fateful day. I spotted a glitch on my blog and it's here, right where you are reading! Basically, the problem is about the Entries scrollbar. It can't scroll down completely! To get to the bottom, I have to highlight the text and drag my highlight down to force the scrollbar to move. Then the scrollbar would slowly become shorter as the content fills up the area.

That's actually not a big problem. Because most probably you wouldn't scroll to the bottom and read the older posts. BUT!! The real problem is... if you don't force the scrollbar to get shorter (if more content, then the scrollbar is shorter right?) and get the content correctly rendered, the CPU or processor will be crank up to 100% or 50% if you're using a dual-core! Nobody wants to come to my blog and hear their CPU fan act up right?

Well, it happens in Windows Vista's Internet Explorer 7 (not sure about XP's) and not in Firefox 2! *haha* Not trying to support Firefox here.

So I went high and low to fix this up. And to be less destructive to my blog, which later turn up ironically to be later, I created another blog to test it out. When I finally found the cause and thought I'd wrapped this thing up and done, I copied the codes, deleted the testing blog and went to my main blog to paste them in. To my horror...

I DELETED THE WRONG BLOG!!!

Just like our MM Lee Kwan Yew, it was a moment of anguish for me. It was a sense of inescapable helplessness. Not to mention the cold strings of word, "we can't restore your posts once you choose to delete your blog."

Delete Your Blog? We can't restore your posts once you choose to delete your blog.

But heaven can never be so cruel to a nice guy like me 'cause I'm the only nice guy left. They can't let me go suicidal and extinct the race of nice guys. *haha* Okay, that was to wake you up if everything goes too boring. Anyway, wrote an e-mail to the Blogger Team over at California. The excellent guys there manages to restore it for me. Seems like I'm not the last nice guys left, but I'm certain I'm in the other part of the Earth. =)

So now the 145 posts are safe (sort of), but I'm not gonna bring it over soon before the major overhaul.

Want to know how high and low my "melodious" voice can go?
Drop by soon, and you will know!

How's Life?

I think it has been quite some time since I blogged about school life. To be exact, I'm quite sure I haven't been talking about it last year at all. Well, maybe bits and pieces of it but not to the extent of what I consider as "Status: Blogged". So here it goes again...

MONDAY. School starts. Boring 'o boring. Considering a 2-hour break for a day that ends on 6, it's quite a bargain. But Network Management and Adminstration (NMA) was pretty fun. Okay, my definition for 'fun' in this case was pretty different. First, it was relaxing. Maybe it haven't really started? Second, the Ms. Teo was actually more friendly than I thought.

TUESDAY. The craziest day - from 0800 to 1730. Attended my second General Elective Module (GEM) class. That's Psychology and Counselling (PSYC). I loved the stories the teacher told, but the sharing session aren't my cup of tea. There's also a textbook for the module and I bought it. Flipped through a few pages on temperaments. On the book, it stated there are 4 types: Sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic. And I suspect I'm a little of melancholic and phlegmatic! Don't believe? See it's description below: Oops, can't type everything here or it would be too long and triple-Z boring. Well, just take it at face value then. *haha*

WEDNESDAY. A slightly better day. Attended my third GEM and that would be Calendars and Astronomy. The lecturer kept saying lame jokes. And it was SO COLD!! Anyway, I saw Yu Ker, Jun Yong, Ryan, Evelyn, Imm Peng and last but not least, Germaine on the same day! It's so hard to see Germaine, she always stay hidden at around T1 area like I always stay up on Mount Emei.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY. Finally, things slowly get back to normal. And what's normal? And that's nothing happened that I could remember! Ah one thing, monthly Diploma Plus tutorial on Thursday ends at 9 pm! x _ x

And I already have an assignment right on first week! It's cruel. And it's group work somemore. Worse, I'm the leader. Worst, I have high standards on my groupmates. I wonder can they survive my 5-week boot camp? *haha* I'm a nice guy and I know I can't expect much from them anyway. =X

And that's my updated reply for the question, "How's life?". =)

*sigh* Didn't anyone notice the all my previous posts were gone? Nobody cares anyway. Sadded.

Monday, April 7, 2008

After loooong time (I think), I'm back here again! Haha.

Once again, holiday's ending soon. Didn't really enjoy much but I think it wasn't wasted. Firstly, one of the major things I've done would be this blog. On second look, it's really not that nice. Haha. The problem should most probably lie in its colours. Oh well, most probably I'll get the colours right soon? =)

Happy April Fool's Day!

That's it, my birthday's over. In a blink of an eye! Thanks for da peeps wishing me well. 'preciate it lots! =D I hope they don't remember it because Friendster spammed their e-mails. Haha! Talking about Friendster, it's like 2929292929 years since I've updated it! *lol* Sorry arh, seen this expression appearing more and more often in the blogs I read. Heh, so copy a bit. But it's not any random number! 29 sounds like 很久 right? Anyway, since I found out that Friendster always send out "birthday coming soon" 9 days before the actual birthday, I decided to change my Friendster picture! Haha. But that's old photo also. Sigh.

In this digital age, I found that I've less and less photos already. =( All due to the fact that using digital still camera, you see the picture right after took them. Oh my! Not nice seh~ Delete! Okay, I don't really delete images. Professionals don't do that. =P But you just would not really spend money to develop it into a photograph. Not like in the past, everything you took, it's inside the film. Can't directly take the film out under the hot sun, silver bromide decomposes remember? So to get a vague idea of the pictures, you gotta develop the film into negative! Haha, talking about negatives. The whiter your teeth, the darker it appears in the negative! Anyway, here's where you decide which is the "nice" one. But in the end, most probably you will print all of them. So all of them get archived into albums which in later years do bring some memories back. Now it's virtual, why develop the digital photos into prints when in the computer you can zoom in on some details?

For me, I prefer photos that are printed. Yup, I'm old-fashioned. But that's a style too!

I'm A Boring Person!

Boring. I'm a boring person! If you certainly don't mind to use your adventurous time to read the monotonous chunk of uninteresting text below... oh well, just continue. It's your time, isn't it? =)

A friend often ask me this question. Whether it's online message, on phone or just happen to see her, the question she asked would fairly be the same.

"How's life?"

I always replied the usual. Life's the same. Hmm, is life really the same for me? Or maybe I didn't take notice how much it changed? Haha. Maybe I wasn't good in expressing myself. From bits and pieces of memory, I just can't fill up the missing parts and give complete reply. So a simple and general reply would just be good. Anyway, no one actually have the time to wait for me to process a complete reply. I'll guess I'd just reply to myself instead, the ever-patient me.

It's good thing the semester is coming to an end after my last exam paper. I can finally shut myself out from the chaotic world again. Staying home all day never makes me that bored. The energy level's in equilibrium, right? Staying at home is boring, and I'm even boring. In relative, it's interesting to stay at home! There are dramas and documentaries to watch. There's so much thing to do and learn! What's good is you don't pay much for it!

Lastly, staying the same is good don't you find? Don't wish for anything and don't expect anything. 'Cuase it might turn up to be disappointing. The best you have right now... is now. Never say this is the best moment in my life. There are better to come, right? Never say this is the worst day ever. There could be worse. So why set a limit on what's good and bad? Stay neutral. Stay at pH 7! *haha* So let fate flows~

So I totally agree with Mr. Gui's emotions frequency conjecture! Wish to see him soon, he always have a happy look. Haha. Makes me feel happy! lonely, mr. lonely~

Felt so much better... Phew, so you read through? You must be as boring as me! *wahahas* Welcome to my world! =))
